Brian & Paul
What can I say about my first trip to New York City, I honestly believe that I had too much fun. I got there a couple of days before Brian and Paul’s wedding on a rooftop at the Hotel on Rivington, because I wanted to make sure I had my bearings in the city before their big day! (I also wanted to eat a canoli). (which I did). (I ate around 8 canoli’s). Then I stayed a few days after to make sure I took in the city proper! Of all the things I did and saw in this crazy city, witnessing Brian and Paul’s love for each was the most emphatic. I could sense such a deep connection between them as soon as I started to shutter. During their day I learned that they had been together for 15 years but are only now able to get married in New York. This gave their rooftop wedding a definite triumphant air, at times the city seemed so small in relation to their celebration. In photographing them I wanted to let their state of affairs shine through in the imagery. I wanted New York to be a character in the frames as it has played such a large role in the formation of their relationship. I hope you can see that and understand the direction I took with some of the accents in their collection. Brian and Paul, along with their amazing planner Laura from Elegant Events by Laura absolutely planned the socks off of this wedding. It was so great and the staff at the Hotel on Rivington pulled the day of with such class, from the amazing 5 course meal to the immaculate table settings I was extremely impressed! And, I have to give a big shout out to my friend Addie Kuhn for hosting me for the week and sharing her city with me, thanks Addie! I hope you guys enjoy!
