This, if I might be so bold, this is love. My only hope is that you might know these two a bit through these images. This day was so relaxing and fun and free and I got to make pictures during it. I loved it. Ellen and Jon are deep lovers and deep thinkers, it was such a pleasure to photograph them and their family and friends. Just a sweet, sweet day. This ceremony was filled with so much emotion, positive energy, and good quotes.. you know what I mean. And I think Uley’s Cabin in Crested Butte was perfect for them, intimate yet fun and mountainy..I know that’s not a word…but it fits..
Congrats my friends and Cheers to this new endeavor!
Also big ups to Ciera with Lucky Penny Events for putting together such a lovely event on the mountain in Crested Butte.
I had such a good time photographing Joseph and Colleen’s Wedding in New Orleans! I get to see so many interesting places and meet so many wonderful people shooting weddings and this one had it all. If you know me you know I love New Orleans and that it’s home to my long term photo project, so whenever I have the opportunity to photograph a wedding there it’s like Christmas. We first met Joseph and Colleen at their rehearsal dinner in the French Quarter the day before the wedding. They had a great band playing second line for their while the two of them and their family and friends dance and sang along.. It was like a mini-parade with police stopping traffic and everything… but what got me was how much fun everyone was having! Within minutes you could tell that this friend group was special and that they loved having a good time! Imagine you and over 100 of your closest friends just dancing in the streets in the streets of Nola and everyone is getting down…makes you smile too doesn’t it. That was the first night (although I put those images at the end of this post), it kept up into the next day.
The wedding day was such a fun and special day filled with images and love. I could go into detail about it, but hopefully these photographs do the day justice. Joseph and Colleen seemed to have the strongest friendship imaginable, and to able to witness that bond turned to into marriage was inspiring. Joseph & Colleen my hat goes off to you and your crew, you really now how to celebrate! Also I must give the biggest shout out to my friend and fellow Photographer Eric Clausen for lending his skills to the day, I believe he has one of the strongest voices in our industry and I am always humbled to shoot along side him. And of course for all of the Vendors that help make the amazing!!
This Wedding had it all, there were so many emotions. These two have a love that I dream of; constant, inviting, stylish, and fun! Hailing from New York, Ryan and Jessica brought so much class to the top of Beaver Creek. So I was in heaven! There was a moment during their first look that hit me hard, and I hope they will pardon me for sharing :)..During a portrait I was taking, Ryan started to sweat just a little bit and wiped it with a handkerchief..if you know me you know that sweating is my super power so I could totally commiserate, but what happened next is what gave me a window into their love.. Jessica said, and I’m paraphrasing, “It’s okay Ryan, I know who I am marrying, and I want you”! And she said it so effortlessly. I hope we all find our Jess. Congrats you two! It is always a pleasure creating next to some of Colorado’s finest wedding vendors, this post could easily be twice as long because they make it so fun and easy to create. Moreover; just as it is challenging to know what photos to show, it is also challenging to decide what images to create. On a mountain like Beaver Creek, I could photograph my couples all day, but I am working on culling my mind in order to have every image lend itself to my visual language.. I want each one to say something about Ryan and Jessica, I hope through this essay of images you might know them.. and if I start there I can’t help but to be a part of their visual legacy. A big thanks to Ryan and Jessica for trusting me with this day, it was truly an honor, and also my talented friend Levi for coming along for this one. Here are some of the vendors that help make this day great!
I have to be honest, I love the imagery from this wedding. I love applying photographic principles to my work. There is art in everything and we must create order out of the chaos. Not that this wedding was chaotic, actually it was the contrary, Amy and Dan were so calm yet complete in their expression of love to each other. Like a glass filled to the brim, about to overflow.. I think at some point in the images it does…hopefully you see it. But, next to their love, I am so thankful to of gotten the opportunity to come along side them and create something expressive and unique.. I am so happy I get to do this, it is amazing.
